From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
