A 60-day journey around the Australian Coast has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an older female passenger who was left behind by the vessel on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a break. The liner left without her and went back later that day after the personnel became aware the woman was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission located her remains the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that passengers and personnel on the vessel were notified that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous mechanical issues".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the individuals via specially arranged planes".

Officials also published an updated communication, and said they had "provided a directive to the Master" banning any further travelers from getting on the vessel.

The vessel initially left the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's passing. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Relatives Reaction

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "shocked and grieved that the vessel left the island after an organised outing without my parent".

Through her comments, she characterized her mother as an "active octogenarian" who was a affiliate of a walking organization.
