A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.
The pair married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
